It’s a safe bet I’m not the only one thrilled to say goodbye to 2017. I hope you accomplished all the resolutions you planned and found joy and meaning in this year gone by.
While I’ve never been much for the finality of the word “goodbye,” this time I mean it quite emphatically. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of “goodbye” this year after a lifetime of avoiding the word. In the immortal words of the Counting Crows, I pray that “maybe this year will be better than the last.”
“Long December” became my anthem this time last year as I watched my father fading, but I was unable to find the words true once he was gone. 2017 has certainly been a difficult year for me personally. It seems my emotional self could never catch its breath.
So I toast to you…”Goodbye 2017,” and look forward to a much brighter new year.
