New Nursery Rhymes, Part 1: Baa, Baa Black Sheep

Munchkin is a big fan of nursery rhymes, and two of her favorites are “Humpty Dumpty” and “Baa Baa Black Sheep.”  I sing them to her a lot, but at the end of the verse, she always asks “More?”  Unfortunately both these rhymes came with only a single verse apiece.  Happily for her, Mommy stretched her rhyming muscles and came up with a little more.

Baa baa gray sheep

What you gonna do?

Knit some socks for your shoe

One pair for mommy and two for your dad

And maybe some in houndstooth to start a new fad.

Baa baa red sheep

Munchkin needs a dress

Yes ma’am, yes ma’am but I must confess

Here’s lots of bags to make a frock to last

But the little girl won’t find it colorfast.

The best part is now, when I start with the traditional verse, Munchkin interrupts with “Gray sheep?” and won’t let me stop ‘til I share the new verses, too.  Stay tuned next week for my new “Humpty Dumpty” verses.
