Another Nursery Rhyme Verse in the New Year

Munchkin’s gotten really good at reciting various nursery rhymes, including the 2nd and 3rd verses of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Since I don’t know the 4th and 5th verses well myself, I haven’t taught her those yet. K made the point that Munchkin was teaching him all these verses, since he only knows the first one.

She was in “more?” mode the other day when we were singing “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” and I came up with this, just in time for the really cold snap coming our way:

Baa baa brown sheep, where did you go?

Way up north to find me some snow.

It was really cold when I got there,

So I kept my wool and decided not to share.

Inspired, right? Perhaps the message of not sharing isn’t a good one to teach the Munchkin, but we’ll cross that bridge when we must.

Pictured: some sheep and glittery snowflakes from Munchkin’s beloved felt board.

Meanwhile, I got all the old posts back up on the website.  Unfortunately, comments for 2014 are gone forever, and I’m sorry to everyone who took the time to comment.

I’m plotting away at Book 2.  The subplots are all worked out, and I’m just finessing the main story line right now.  I hope to start writing next week.

New Nursery Rhymes, Part 2: Humpty Dumpty

As I mentioned last week, Munchkin can’t get enough of her nursery rhymes, though her favorites happen to be single-verse ones.  Once I got tired of repeating the same lines over and over again, I decided to flex my rhyming muscles and come up with some new verses.

Humpty Dumpty went up the stair

Humpty Dumpty took no great care

With a ker-THUNK he fell all the way down

No one helped since they were all out-of-town.

In a while he sat himself up

To the doctor must he go? Yup

It wasn’t long ‘til he got to his feet

No horses nor men helped him off his seat.

Humpty Dumpty jumped up and down

Humpty Dumpty bumped his cracked crown

Dizzy and dazed he went to the doc’s store

But with no pennies he was shown the door.

In case you missed last week’s new verses for “Baa, Baa Black Sheep,” you can check them out here.

I previously discussed Humpty Dumpty here.
