Happy Thanksgiving

It’s that time of year again, where we spend time actually recounting all the things in life we are thankful for. As a holiday, Thanksgiving really can’t be improved upon: who among us doesn’t have something to be grateful for this year?

The past couple of years have brought the achievement of many life goals, and I’m going to have to build a new bucket list now. Today I have everything I want, everything meaningful that I’ve ever wanted:

  1. A spouse I love (this one’s a bonus). I think you can hope and pray, but it’s the luck of the draw whether you get this.
  2. A daughter. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a mom. Munchkin brings me joy every day and her presence reminds me that this mini-me is shaped by the choices I make as her mother.
  3. A son (another totally unexpected bonus). If Munchkin never had a sibling, I’d have been happy. Getting to see his precious smiles and enjoy motherhood a second time around is a gift I do not take for granted.
  4. A published novel. Also a goal of mine since I was a child. I always knew I wanted to be a writer.

While a lot of other things have happened this past year that I could dwell negatively on, I’m also grateful to be gainfully employed and able to provide for my family, that my family members are healthy or are on the path to better health. I’m immensely thankful for my two precious children and for the opportunity to be their mother.

The existence of Dark Empire reminds me that some of the things I’m grateful for are partially products of dreams, prayers, and hard work. Sharing my writing with an audience fulfills this life dream.

So as I look forward to the coming year, I don’t want to lose sight of all these amazing blessings in my life, but I do recognize the need to create some new goals, dream a few more dreams, and be grateful to God at every opportunity for what He has given me in this life.

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Love this! So happy for you. We all need to make time to think of all that we have to be grateful for.
I, too, feel so blessed to have such a caring, thoughtful and loving husband. and there is nothing like being a mommy! Each child is a gift & does bring much joy, even when adding in the trials & tribulations one experiences as a parent. But most of all I am thankful to Master for all the many blessings he has bestowed upon
